Presence
Being aware in the world
With mindfulness, you can establish yourself in the present in order to touch the wonders of life that are available in that moment. – Thich Nhat Hanh
Trust is at the heart of all healthy relationships, and mindfulness and presence for another person creates the basis of trust. The following are sub-skills that contribute to mindful presence.
Mindfulness is a non-judgmental awareness of what is happening in the present moment.
Mindfulness also enables a peer coach to manage their emotions. The mantra, “Set your intention to pay attention,” is an excellent phrase to use in preparation of a peer coaching session.
